The Houston High-rise Fire and Life Safety Team functions under the direction of the Fire Marshal who is the Division Manager of the Houston Fire Department’s Life Safety Bureau and Arson Bureau. This website was created to assist the High-rise community in keeping their buildings safe while simultaneously staying current with the Department’s Codes and Standards.
The Houston High-rise Fire and Life Safety Team’s purpose is to ensure buildings have adequate fire department access, are properly protected by fire protection systems, egress and exits are maintained and the building has a Fire Safety Plan. All building systems must be maintained and functioning properly for the safety of building occupants and responding emergency personnel.
Due to safety concerns during the COVID-19 crisis, the Fire Marshal’s Office High-rise and Fire Life Safety Team is requiring that no more than two people walk with the Fire Inspector during a fire inspection.
